War Raged…
The cities burned and crumbled under the power of men…
People fled in horror or died… some screamed out to one God or another, but the humans were beyond the Gods help…
The Temples… and those who sought shelter inside them were… gone… at least unseen. Those who knew where to find them would, but for those who claimed to worship without ever stepping foot inside a temple… well, they would not find the safety they yearned for. False prayer lead to false Gods..
Khaalida danced upon the clear calm sea while she and Axenus watched Lothrei burn. The ships fleeing from the city might tell tale of a woman’s laughter as they raced away from the fires… but that was for another time. The Goddess of the Moon danced with glee as the war took hold of the lands… it was the death, the mayhem… and the chaos that cause her so much joy. The moon so tranquil in the sky craved change and power… she danced around her lover through the night. The dreams for Cass would continue… her son… the babe grew, Khaaldia could feel him, she had a connection to him.
Caphis did not dance…. There was no happiness in this necessary evil. Destruction always prefaced creativity… but the God of the Sun hid behind his dark clouds much like a child might. The child-like God upset with the death going on in the lands and helpless to stop most of it; this was what the humans wanted… this is what they brought themselves to… there were few parts of the land that sunshine broke through the clouds offering rays of hope to those who prayed to him or those who just prayed to be spared across all the lands.
Dayus watched. The God of the Sky had no say in this matter. It was his belief that humans were free to do as they pleased and he stayed out of most of it. Now he felt for Caphis, and celebrated with Khaalida… they were both his, and ever at odds. The God watched the goings on in the human world, but did not interfere.
Rhea wept… the Goddess of the Earth could not bear to listen to the people hurting. Lightening cracked over her forests making thunder roll angry across the sky… and the rain fell. The Goddess would be in the middle of the storm, the middle of the forest… where she could best try to block out the war the humans raged… the storm did not seem to move and it did not produce enough rain for major flooding… but it was there.
Axenus lounged on his sea with Khaalida while she danced and celebrated. His eyes glued to her form. The chaos on the lands only fueled his desire for her, and that she enjoyed it… well… she laughed and people fled… his temples too were gone, unless you knew where to find them by heart..
When it was over... perhaps the people would find more faith in their Gods... or perhaps they would have less... time would tell.
